Research

This narrative shows the relevancy of intimate relationships between children and their family members at a young age. It will depict baseball in a beautiful and natural form that emphasizes the determination among young athletes. Some useful film connections based on aesthetics, composition, and color are The Sandlot, The Natural, Field of Dreams, Bad News Bears, A League of Their Own, Major League, and The Rookie. The only musical influences for the short are ACDC and The White Stripes. Additional reference to Major League Baseball game broadcasts on television may provide useful insight regarding compositional approaches to the film.

In order to give an accurate representation of how an eleven-year-old child would react to certain situations, it may be helpful to ask athletes of and near the age of eleven how they approach their sport and what goes through their mind. This research can include looking into personal history in which parents might have helpful information on how I, the filmmaker, acted about game time at such a young age. Re-watching these film references and researching the mind of a youth athlete will contribute to the success of this short.
