ARTIST STATEMENT:

As early as I can remember, movies have always been important to me. Throughout my childhood, I was eager to quote my favorite lines and reenact my favorite scenes. I find great personal satisfaction in creating new worlds and stories that others can become a part of. It is important for people to take breaks from their daily routines and dive into stories that intrigue thought and emotion. Personally, I think film does the best at achieving this.

As an editor and cinematographer, I respect the entire filmmaking process. From the first idea to the last cut of an edit, film is an art that emphasizes multiple techniques and strategies in order to make something many people can relate to. For me, film is an escape from personal reality. More importantly, film is a place where I can create emotion and use that emotion to connect with others.

In addition to my desire to create a visually appealing narrative with structure, my background in baseball largely influences my passion for this film. Growing up, I played baseball for 11 short and exciting years. Working on previous projects of this caliber has intrigued me to make a film that doesn't necessarily encourage deep thought. Rather, I find myself capable of creating this story from beginning to end with the ambition to show that sports are largely relatable to life itself in that you can't predict what will happen. Personally, this film will challenge me as an editor to create a cohesive narrative that leaves the audience with an undefined ending.
